Ithaca, the home of Moosewood

We played at The Shop in the afternoon before the Super Bowl. My cousin lives there so it was great to visit him and totally sneak in for some free Ithaca College food at the school sponsored Super Bowl party. That’s right Ithaca College, we stole your free food and I don’t care who knows it. ;) Emily Arin was kind enough to play the show as well. She has a stand out voice and played a really great set. My favorite tune was When You Knew Me When. That is a hit song if I’ve ever heard one. And such a nice girl. She should play in Wisconsin.

And, we made our second visit to Moosewood Restaurant, home of the famed Moosewood Cookbook. I had some Spicy Szechuan sauce with shiitake mushrooms, broccoli, and walnuts. To die for. Maybe to live for.

Cleveland Is.

So Cleveland for the first time was a wholesome experience. Before the show I was in the green room warming up. Luckily enough, I heard The Infamous Stringdusters pick a few tunes before their show in the Beachland Ballroom. My mind was enhanced (+3) by their dizzying abilities, to be sure. (Travis, if you read this, I didn’t peak in for your set but I know it was amazing.) The dudes of Like Bells out of Oberlin, OH were kind enough to add us to the bill at Beachland Tavern. They killed it, my friends. They played seven new tunes and you wouldn’t have known it was the first time, in all honesty. Then we were slayed, just beat to a pulp, by the true restraint of The Trepanning Trio who are actually a decatet, if that’s a word.

About Ypsilanti

We played in Ypsilanti, MI last night at the Elbow Room Bar. The fine folk of Lightning Love put together the show for us in their home town. Ypsilanti is pretty close to Detroit and even closer to Ann Arbor. Some of the dudes on the sound team there are involved in an Ann Arbor based label called Quite Scientific so I’m checking that out today.

There may be about a million bands doing wonderful things these days. Perhaps our friend Erik’s dream that local musicians will be supported by a local community will one day come to pass.
